Dedicated to John Rusty Crain
It was with great sadness that we lost an important member of the Three Rivers community. Rusty Crain peacefully passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 89. Following his parents up from Orange County, Rusty and his new bride moved to Three Rivers in 1970 to fill a math teaching job at a local area High School. Dad Chet Crain a retired administrator, and wife Thelma, a poet, artist and true character, were charter members of HSJC. Chet served as President and was elected Manager of the host High Sierra Jazz Band. Rusty naturally had to help with Jazzaffair and club monthly meetings. Help he did, and he never stopped! After Sue Mills retired, he served as Jazzaffair Director and High Sierras Manager for the next 15 years. He and his second wife Pat traveled with the band and had the time of their lives seeing the world and meeting new and old jazz friends. Rusty was a community leader with the Lions, Museum, Presbyterian Church and every other local organization. Jazzaffair was his baby and he made sure every aspect was completed correctly. The details always mattered. There was no problem he could not calmly solve. Thank you Rusty you made a difference in all our lives here in Three Rivers.
