2025 Sequoia Lake Music Camp

This summer, The Three Rivers Traditional Jazz Club proudly sponsored two fine-budding music students from our own Three Rivers Elementary school to participate in the Annual Sequoia Lake Music Camp. The Eagles band instructor, Benjamin Vaccaro, nominated 7th grader Hunter Cruz, a drummer, and saxophone player Elliot Schmidt to represent our local school.

The weeklong music camp for students in 5^th grade through 12^th grade hosts a long tradition of teaching young students how to refine their skills as well as developing fellowship with other music students and, of course enjoying the beauty of Sequoia Lake in the beautiful Kings Canyon National Park, known for great camping, fishing, boating, swimming and hiking.

Dr. Colleen Snyder, retired music director of Reedley Community College, led the Symphony Orchestra. The Symphonic Band was headed by Dr. Randall Cornelison, Music Director at University High School at CSUF, and the Jazz Band was directed by Mr. John Ayala, who recently retired from Fresno Unified. Stephanie Vagim, orchestra teacher at FUSD, and Kamilah Simba, owner and director of Simba School of Music, co-directed the annual Sequoia Lake Music Camp this summer. Both Hunter and Elliot reported they had a fantastic time and thanked the Club for sending them to music camp.
